ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The release function of album “Gokulam” was held on 29 January 2011, at ISKCON Auditorium in Juhu, Mumbai. The programme started at 10.00 am with a small introduction and with a minute of silence for the departed soul of (late) Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. It was followed by a classical flute concert by Shri. Kudamaloor Janardanan (titled as “Gokula Murali”).

The CD release was done (in between the concert) by senior Hindustani Vocalist Pandit Shri. Raja Kaleji, who received the first copy from Smt. Prasanna Varrier. Shri. Chowallur and Shri. Kudamaloor were also present on the dias to talk about the album and their happy memories while making this album. While sharing some sweet anecdotes, Shri. Chowallur heaped lot of praises on Guru Smt. Prasanna Varrier for her tireless efforts in making this album a reality. Pandit Raja Kaleji also gave his blessings for the success of the album and many more to come from this Gokulam team.

The function was well attended with over 250 people in the audience (on a Saturday morning) and Shri. Kudamloorji continued his concert till finish. Apart from the CD release function, the highlight of his concert were the explanations provided by him in between each recital. Before one rendition in raaga-maalika (in particular) he even asked his audiences what raagas they would like to hear and was able to instantly mesmerize them with their choices ( which incidentally only a few artists can boast off with such spontaneity).

Coverage in Mathrubumi, Mumbai

There was press coverage too and we are not complaining…
