Album Notes

The rich textural sound created by the blending of horns and steel guitar is a rare and beautiful component of Americana. It is the inspiration for this CD (my 10th recording release since 1979) "Steel Guitar Lounge."

In the 1930s-50s the steel guitar was popular in the styles of Hawaiian and Western Swing. During the same period the big band jazz dance groups had a wonderful sound with their arranged horn sections and infectious swinging dance rhythms. On many sessions the steel guitar and horns met. This created one of the sweetest sounds in American music style, which now, is almost lost due to the dominance of rock since the 1950s.

This CD is a collection of pieces I've written on lap steel guitar since I first became fascinated and began playing it around 1993. It pays homage to the music of the steel guitar, National tricone and the great players who have gone before me.
