Pianist Maike Mohr, bass player and cellist Henrik Mumm and percussionist Helge Andreas Norbakken are three wonderfully talented musicians who form the trio Abendland.The roots of Abendland's music are to be found deep in european traditional music. Abendland takes their audiences on a journey from western to eastern europe where they find themselves in the snows of Scandanavia, breathing in the salt sea air on Ireland's coast, bathing in the scent of Sicilian oranges or strolling through the black forest in Germany. Maike Mohr, Henrik Mumm and Helge Andreas Norbakken take these traditional themes and take them on a journey through their individual musical backgrounds, making it their own and transforming it into high quality World Music. All three are well known musicians on the world music scene and have toured and recorded with charasmatic irish singer Anne Wylie for many years. Helge Norbakken has toured with Kari Bremnes, Mari Boine, Maria Joao and Karl Seglem.
Abendland recently released a fabulous CD under the titel "Abendland - Live" which was recorded while on Tour and is an absolute joy to listen to.
