Album Notes

What sets the engaging New York performer, Henry Dee, apart from others is his uncanny ability to find quality in the unexpected.

Henry has done live tributes to such trailblazing artists as Johnnie Ray, Dinah Washington and the talented group of young songwriters who from 1958 to 1964 created the rock music that is called the Brill Building Sound. He has attracted full houses to each of these shows and earned the praise of audiences and critics alike.

With his new CD Henry brings his warmth, detailed knowledge of popular music and his performing chops to this special selection of folk-rock music from the late 60’s and early 70’s. His delivery captures some of the sadness and isolation that he felt as a musically precocious kid growing up in the suburbs. His insight into the human condition informs each of his music decisions and every note he sings. With the help of his wonderfully talented team of musicians he has been able to bring out his soulful sense of the music and make it truly his own.

“This guy’s got a lot of the right stuff going for him . . .
His gentle approach to every song is easy on the ears and
projects a telling knowledge of the lyric. Dee understands
from whence he sings . . . Henry Dee is one to watch.”
