Album Notes

Henry Mena is a Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter who, for more than a decade (1992-2004), led the pioneering Rock en Español act La Ruta. His first English-language release, the acoustic EP The Avatar Sessions, saw the light of day in 2002—it was re-released in an expanded and remastered digipak format in December 2007—and is currently recording Beautiful Insults and Compromises, a modern power pop album featuring his live/touring outfit, The Henry Mena Ego Trip. Beautiful Insults and Compromises is due for a 2009 release.

While his own music has close stylistic ties to both power pop and the singer/songwriter vein, the breadth of Mena's musical interests is quite ample, as evidenced by his work with metal act JLS, Latin jazz heavies Sonido Isleño, and multi-instrumentalist/producer Nova from Pacha Massive, among many others.

The bonus tracks on this cd are the absolute B-E-S-T. Kick back and enjoy with a drink kind of music. I'm a sucker for acoustic pieces and this album gave the best bonus acoustic songs. Jacques Cousteau was the the highlight of my indulgence.
