notes

"What I take from life, I give back through my art. So far I've taken nothing but crap." So says Henry Phillips, who has been seen performing his hilariously funny, twisted comedy songs and stories on Comedy Central, ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' and NBC's 'Late Friday'. He can also be heard regularly on the 'BOB&TOM' Show, performing such comedy songs as 'The Guitar Pill' and 'She's Talking Again'. His nationally released comedy CDs, fusing mellow folk-rock ballads with taboo-smashing lyrics have earned him mention in Billboard magazine's 'Critic's Choice', as well as acclaim from the king of comedy music himself, Dr. Demento, who referred to Phillips as "The funniest young singer-songwriter to come our way in quite a while."

"His arsenal of catchy guitar tunes, deadpan delivery, and rapier wit annihilates relationships, political correctness, pop culture, and the news."
- Susan Karlin, Los Angeles Times

"...fusing the mediums of comedy and music is so difficult that you have to go back years to find something comparable."
- Jonathan Widran, Music Connection Magazine

This is another awesome CD from Henry Phillips. I never have a bad commute to work when I'm listening to his stuff and now I've got a great new CD to add to the collection.

  • LMAO, for once its for real!
    author: Shawn Smith

Hilarious and off-the-wall humor. After listening to Starf*ucker I couldn't breathe for five minutes because I was laughing so hard. Buy the CD and see if you don't laugh you ass off...

  • GO ON THE HENRY PHILIPS DIET!!- I LAUGHED MY ASS AND SEVERAL OTHER BODY PARTS OF
    author: Johnathan Proteus

With every song, new and heretofore unknown realms of bitterness and resentment were opened up in me through cathartic bouts of uncontrollable laughter that caused me to hallucinate that Henry was my psychiatrist. Each song was a new prescription for a different aspect of my emotional dysfunction and constipation. DUDE!! This album was like Colon Blow for my mind!!! Get rid of all that mindless propaganda and GET HENRY PHILIPS NOW!!

  • Non-stop laughs the whole way through
    author: Lauren

The long-awaited third cd from Henry has arrived...and he doesn't disappoint! I've listened to it countless times, and despite the fact that I know exactly what he's going to say, I laugh out loud every time I listen. Everything is live except Alone Again and I'm in Minneapolis. Not a bad track in the bunch. Order your copy right now! And if you don't have Henry's first two cds, On The Shoulders of Freaks and No. 2, grab those, too. Enjoy!!!

  • Again, Henry Phillips produces another brilliant album
    author: Vince Cook

I already own Henry Phillip's first two albums, so I thought I should get the third one, I'm glad I did now, it has to be one of my all-time favourites out of my cd collection. The songs are brilliant, both lyric-wise and musically, why can't more musicians take a leaf out of his book, this is a perfect album, great!

  • Groovy

Henry continues to amaze with his genuine lyrics and stories.

  • Another Great CD from Henry
    author: Paul Blankenship

Fans and new comers will like this CD. I got the chance to meet Henry in LA back in 1998, awesome show then and he continues to deliver the goods with this CD. Get ready to laugh your money maker off!

  • Nice mix of irreverence and sarcasm
    author: Liz in Everett, WA

Heard an interview on the Bob Rivers show 102.5 in Seattle and a clip from "Why haven't I heard from you?" and ordered it right away. Nice mix of irreverence and sarcasm! Ready for the next CD.

  • Waffle Shacks Control Overpopulation
    author: Sharon

It is unlike me to hear a song on the radio and immediately track down the CD. "Worst Waffle Shack in the Nation" reminded me of many suspicious road meals consumed in desperation. When I got the CD, I just chuckled through the entire thing. It may require a somewhat warped sense of humor, but Phillips is very talented!

  • laugh out loud relationship angst
    author: jwhite@wavecable.com

I heard an interview and a couple of songs on Bob Rivers morning show on KZOK in Seattle. Decided I had to have it.Really, this is one of the two or three funniest things I've heard in recent years. The only things I can compare it to (in terms of laughing til I cried) are parts of Dennis Leary's "No Cure For Cancer" and several Lewis Black bits from several albums. GREAT FUN !!!!!

  • Einstien, Issac Newton, and Elvis combined... Hilarious!!!
    author: The Liquid Forum

I love the way that Henry Philips was able to fuse melody and comedy by making funny songs. Not only was this album packed with music, but also laughs. The over all laughy funny'yness of it was the part that really made these songs stand out as funny songs... and songs... that were funny.

  • Just want to know...Where's Henry been all my life?
    author: Linda

The CD was everything expected. Bob and Tom introduced us, but Henry and his outside the BOX thinking have made me look forward to tuning in. It ain't about B&T anymore, it's about the original entertainment that show up and Henry is right up there with the best of 'em!

  • Absolutely hilarious...
    author: Jesse Joyce

Hey everyone, this gets a fellow professional's stamp of approval. I'm a comic also, and the last thing I want to do is listen to other comic's stuff, but I actually listen to this in my car and it's hysterical. And he's a great musician too. The songs are really catchy even though he's singing about nymphomaniac lesbian nurses. One of the most well put together comedy albums I've heard.

  • Greatest CD of All TIme
    author: Bobby Tumpak

This is the Greatest Work of ALL TIME! It is hilarious and the guitar playing is wonderful!! Amazing timing!
