Album Notes

"The only rule we have for our music, is that our passion in the writing and recording of our songs is heard and felt."

The statement above sums up how music producers Travis Henson and Kyle Level view their songs and how they create music. Music from the heart.

While Henson and Level are currently producing various rock acts, they have just released their first album, simply titled, "Henson-Level Project." A record sure to hit the modern rock charts, as well as some movie soundtracks, with songs like "Magic" and "Star."

This special offering is a three year effort for both musicians. While both were on the road, in the studio, and working with aspiring acts, Travis and Kyle were working on this record. Something real that is truly from the heart.

When Travis and Kyle met in Nashville in 1995, they had spent years on the road with rock and country acts, developing their playing chops and writing their own songs on the side. They quickly realized how well their talents fit together and wrote and recorded countless demos. "When we wrote together, Travis heard things I didn't and vice versa. It was like a piece to a puzzle we'd been looking for.", Kyle says. To Travis, "Kyle's a piano guy and I'm a guitar guy. There are chords and progressions that are natural and familiar to him, that I wouldn't think of. I really feed off of that. And I guess I do the same for him."

"I love albums that continue to 'give' something to you with every listen. When you hear a guitar lick or vocal harmony you haven't heard the other 200 times you listened, is exciting. We want our music to not only be well-written and memorable, but to have sonic layers. Things that make you want to listen to it over and over again." Kyle adds, "Our constant source of inspiration is The Beatles. Their songwriting, recording techniques, and overall vibe continues to blow us away."

Travis and Kyle's 10-song production reel is a showcase, not only in their songwriting and production skills, but in their passion for what they do. It's a mixture of everything they've learned and felt through their lives. Retro yet modern, classic but current. Travis calls it, "Music for tomorrow. I really don't know how anyone could hear this and not fall in love with at least half of it. There's something for everyone."

Strong writing and production. My favorite tunes are "Star" and "Conspiracy". The guitarist is smoking and is sure to be heard from on many records to come.

Truly an inspirational work. The word "genius" is greatly overused, but, yes, genius describes this fine work by two torturedly talented fellows. I sense a longing for the past that rushes headlong into the abyss of the future. Tumbling, tumbling...and regrouping to form a sublime, teasingly coherent whole, reminescent of the great "art rock" bands of the 70's. Refreashing and ultimately provocative in its impact, striking a nerve, a fiber, that has long been left vacant from the ever changing and "flip" music scene. A Tour De Force of magnum proportions! Right on Henson-Level!

There is no reason why this album shouldn't be played all over the radio airwaves. The song writing, the guitar work, and the vocals are as good as it gets. Not many bands these days put the time and thought into an album to make it worth you buying it. This is the EXCEPTION!!
