UNFOLD is my second album produced by Eric Frank, following the 2005 release "& We Hope."
In the making of this album, we loaded all of our recording gear into a car and headed out to the woods of the California Sierras. We hoped to get away from the distractions of the world. This getaway also provided us with a chance to have a sense of adventure and plain old-fashioned fun which I wanted to blend into the energy of the songs on the album. UNFOLD is the product of mixing a great getaway with some of my best friends with as many instruments as possible in a remote cabin for a week and seeing what might, dare I say, unfold.
UNFOLD is as much a collection of stories as it is a collection of songs, and the lyrics were largely influenced by the situations and experiences of the past year since "& We Hope." The album is filled with these pieces of my life - dealing with life in Southern California to my sister's ambitions to conquer the world, and a conversation with a sand-castle maker - to name a few.
My biggest goal for UNFOLD was to have a bigger, full-band sound with plenty of shake, rattle and roll. I was lucky enough to be able to round up some of the best musicians I have played with over the years from all over California. Collaborating with these six musicians, we wanted to give UNFOLD a sound that was a step forward, without straying too far from the stripped down, raw feel of the last record.
Though my name is the only one on the front of the album, UNFOLD is the biggest musical collaboration that i have ever been a part of and it would not have been the same without each person who contributed.

A great album!

This album is a wonderful step forward from "& We Hope." It is richer, fuller, and more diverse. As always, stellar vocals and lyrics from Heringer himself. The various instruments he has woven throughout his songs are well-chosen. It's not the same, stale old folk rock you often hear in this genre, especially with songs like "I Cannot Remember" which truly rock.
