Take a step back in time with a musical performance from the 19th Century where the "Heritage" String Band will take you on a "Musical History Tour" of popular songs of the times and dance melodies of civilians and soldiers during the early, mid and late 1800's.
The live performances create an experience to hear great Americana music from our past. Band historians will share brief information on the background of each piece, enabling the audience to gain a rich perspective on this vibrant music from around the campfires of long, long ago.
The music played emphasizes pre-war, Civil War, reconstruction and migration westward after the war. Musicians perform in period clothing with flags, lanterns and other details of the 1800's. The band includes narrations, lead singers, rich vocal harmonies with banjos, guitars, fiddle, drums, tambourine, accordion, tin whistle, harmonica, spoons, washboard, jaws harp, and bass fiddle.
What Audiences are Saying About Us...
"On behalf of the friends of the Asa Waters Mansion, I would like to express our deep appreciation to the Heritage String Band for your wonderful music contribution to our Evening with Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. Your stirring renditions of the Civil War period songs helped set the tone and atmosphere for the evening and were immensely enjoyed by all who attended"

Dear Ed:
Please thank the band for a wonderful performance at the 2003 Brooklyn Fair. We certainly made the right decision to have the band play all 3 days. Every person we heard from during and after told us how much they enjoyed your group. It was a pleasure to watch the audience and see the enjoyment on their faces and see them join in on some of the songs. Your ability to encompass the history of the Civil War and the relationship of your music to other events in the growth of our country is wonderful. It is truly Americana! The Heritage String Band is just a great group to work with and a pleasure to have on our fair grounds. Please feel free to have anyone call me and be sure to save our fair dates for a return in 2004. All the best.
Don Francis, President, Brooklyn State Fair, CT
"Thanks for a fantastic evening. You made our banquet a very special occasion. My people were so appreciative of your "patriotic theme" and loved the music. You are to be commended for an outstanding performance!" [Band performed for the Army Nurse Corps Association National Convention at the Park Plaza Hotel, Boston on May 25, 2002.]

Great and Fun Listening!

The Heritage String band really comes through on this Cd. The Cd is a great mix of southern and northern culture and is great for listening with the whole family. There is a great blend of instruments, songs, and stories. Good for listening in the car for long trips or sitting at home while reading. Great for gatherings as well!
