REVIEWS

FROM ROCKY TO ROTTERDAM
author: jonaco
Philly-based producer Jerry Ross put out a lot of hits in the '60s ranging from easy-listening pop to doo-wop to bubble-gum rock from Holland. Many of these hits (but not those with Spanky and Our Gang or Keith) are on this CD. More for lite-pop fans (I'm one) than rockers, it has those Dutch songs ("Venus", "Little Green Bag") that you probably still know no matter how you tried to hate them. There's also some decent Philly/Motown soul and the horn-happy sound of Hampton Roads' Bill Deal and the Rhondels. Ross also dabbled in Muzak-ized pop- eclectic, if MOR, to say the least. Recommended for mostly pop-curiosity fans.
