notes
A newcomer to the music scene, Los Angeles native Melanie Hersch has been making waves with her recently released CD, "Waiting for the Moment". Produced by Tom Freund (the Silos), along with Melanie, this album is an inspiring collection of songs that range from alt. country to folk to rock to pop. With the support of players such as Greg Leitz (Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris, Joni Mitchell), Michael Jerome (The Blind Boys of Alabama, Richard Thompson), Danny Frankel (Victoria Williams, Fionna Apple), this album shines as an impressive debut release. Intimate, honest, confessional and catchy, Waiting for the Moment gives a clear taste of the talent and range that Melanie has to offer. Comparisons to Patty Griffin, Lucinda Williams, and Sheryl Crow are commonly made, however Melanie has a unique writing style and vocal delivery that is clearly her own. Part velvet, part grit, Melanie's voice has a quality to it that is both achingly penetrating and highly addictive. Her music is refreshingly intimate, and Melanie's lyrics paint pictures in your head that you just can't help but relate to.
On tour for the past couple years singing with folk artist Brian Joseph, Melanie has been inspiring audiences all over the country. Now out on her own promoting her new album, she is touring more than ever. With her infectious bright smile and light-hearted ways, Melanie brings a warmth and presence to the stage that is truly inspiring and captivating, exuding an honesty that is all too rare!

This is a truly wonderful album. Such great stories, a few downhome country tracks and overall great folk music for the car. Melanie's music stays in your head in such a pleasant way. Get it!
Surprised me and still does
author: JayI heard her play in what was probably the worst possible venue, a rec center in Anaheim. Think of your elementary school's all-purpose room where they had lunch and square dances. Her voice just shone. I bought the album. Early copy. Looked liked she burned it that morning and wrote the title with a Sharpie pen. Surprised me. Still does. Deserves to be a star. In fact, I'd she is already, even if this CD never sells another copy. =)
Gotta see her live!
author: ChristopherI've loved this album for 2 years now! But honestly it doesn't' do her justice! You simply have to see her live to hear that voice the way it's meant to be heard!
An Extrordinary New Artist
author: Barry LaibI bought the CD after catching Melanie with a live band in L.A. Oh my God.... This girl can sing, this girl can play, and most overwhelming THIS GIRL CAN WRITE!! I have heard debut albums in the past, and inevitably they are uneven, and largely uneventful. WAITING FOR THE MOMENT is a phenomenal album...even if it came from a seasoned singer-songwriter. Melanie has a distinct voice, and a playful nature. At the same time she lends tremendous heart to her OVERWHELMING lyrics. You have to hear this to believe it. I am no country music lover. I haven't been into folk since the mid-60's. Melanie has resurrected elements of both and blended them into something entirely new. I cannot recommend this album highly enough.
Melanie has a great gift. She deserves to be on the radio.
author: Rich AllenI heard Melanie in Boulder last week. I bought the CD at the coffee shop. Usually I do this out of support for local talent. The CDs are usually over produced, but this is certainly not true of Melanie's CD. It rocks! It faithfully captures the creativity and energy of Melanie live. Her songs are brilliantly conceived and powerfully performed. The're are several songs on this CD that play in my head all day.
highly recommended

all you have to do...
author: Holly FigueroaAll you have to do is listen to the first track, and you will be hooked. Go on. Do it. Her voice, her incredible grasp of what is simple and true, the things that should be obvious that we all miss every day. I LOVE this record. You will too!
