notes
The best classic rock numbers done kiddie-style, with a toddler twist...
Children can learn valuable lessons, while parents are afforded a moment to reflect on what may have been happening when the parodied song was originally released.
Undeniably...a witty, catchy and rockin' kids album with parody covers of some of parents favorite rock songs!
Mindy made the beautiful discovery that passion and responsibility are not always as far apart as they may seem and "Mindys Music" was born. A 36 year old, Chicago native and single mom, Mindy began performing as an actor, graduating from the Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago in 1992. She went on to do television and film roles while living in Los Angeles until 2000. View her acting credits at www.imdb.com/mindyhester.
She returned to Chicago and began teaching at The Old Town School Of Folk Music, in the adult guitar and Wiggleworms children's music program. She currently lives and tours the entire Chicago area year round, bringing the house down every time.
Recent area performances include:
*The Kohl Children's Museum, Chicago
*WTTW Channel 11's Back To School Special
*The National Council For Jewish Women's Winter Concert
*The Chicago Symphony Orchestra's Family Day
* Starland Creativity Center, Deerfield IL
* countless private parties, church, temple and school events.
"My influences are as wide as my personal musical tastes. I dream to create kid's music that blends real rock & roll and pop music with the salt and spirit of Jim Henson, the wild abandon of Iggy Pop, the playful spirit and integrity of "Jack's Big Music Show" on Noggin, and the pulse pounding excitment of a Super Monster Truck-Pull. My favorite children's musical acts include Peter Himmelman, The Dirty Sock Funtime Band, Ralph Covert, Milkshake, Music For Ardvarks, Justin Roberts, Laurie Berkner, Jeanie B!, TMBG, Zac Morgan, .....I could go on forever. Ton's of great acts out there."
Her new album, Keep On Rockin In The Pre-School, is sure to delight both kids, moms and dads....anyone with a love for rock music! So, break out the ear plugs, because this one goes up to 11!!!

My 2 year old twins like a lot of the songs and it's fun to listen to
author: GayleThe CD is a bit uneven but in general, it's a lot of fun. I most like the songs that are take-offs on classics (especially "Inside the Lines" and "On the Phone Again". My girls have fallen in love with "Baby Leah" and ask for it all the time!
Lots of fun for rock-savvy parents!
author: Cookie Magazine, July/August IssueHester plunders the melodies of famous rock songs to create clever parodies. The title song sends up Neil Young; a Bon Jovi hit celebrates newly mobile toddlers; A Johnny Cash riff becomes a song about crayons. Lots of fun for rock-savvy parents!
A great album that both parents and kids will enjoy!
author: AMAN Jacobs, USNThis is a great album that 30-something parents are going to love listening to, as well as their rockin kids. Totally funny songs that stick in your head for days! You can't go wrong here. Take it from a dad of a wild 2 year old, this CD is the only thing he will sit still for. Seriously.
Ms. Hester will make your kiddies smile, smile, smile
author: NJAI've actually had the pleasure of meeting this kiddie rock-n-roll star and seeing her play for kids. She is awesome...the kids absolutely adore her. All the songs are real rock-n-roll songs that she's made up funny lyrics to...I'd say good for ages 2-10, well, maybe the 10 year-olds might not like the "sippy-cup song", but it's all fun. If you have a youngun, or know anyone that does, do the tykes a favor and pick this CD up. I'll admit that I've even listened to it without any kids around :-)
A rock & roll good time for tots and their adult counterparts!
author: Marcy JustIt is just great to hear real rock and roll done with this kind of juvenille twist. This album is funny, witty and filled with inside jokes that parents will love. It is filled with really catchy melodies, great guitar playing, and even a few jokes. This is a breath of fresh air in the world of kid's music.
