Album Notes

HIDDEN FACES' first commercial break came when George Harrison's Handmade Films hired Fitzpatrick and his partner at the time, David Kitay, to score the 20th Century Fox release Nuns on the Run. The offbeat soundtrack provided a driving force behind Jonathan Lynn’s British comedy (Eric Idle and Robbie Coltrane) and raised audience preview ratings by nearly 300%.

Despite Kitay’s departure for a solo career, a string of other film soundtracks followed for Fitzpatrick and Hidden Faces, including the contemporary cult score for Hemdale Film's Highway to Hell (Kristie Swanson, Patrick Bergin), an emotional and driving song score for Miramax's Breaking the Rules (Annie Potts, C. Thomas Howell), a street-wise soundtrack for the New Line Cinema hit Friday (Ice Cube, Chris Tucker), the eclectic genre-bending music behind Under the Hula Moon (Stephen Baldwin, Emily Lloyd, Chris Penn) and the dramatic backbone to Ice Cube’s directorial debut, The Players Club (Jamie Fox, Bernie Mac)

Fitzpatrick disbanded the group in the late 90’s. Mad World is the first official release since that time and the only available collection of these classic recordings from Frank Fitzpatrick and HIDDEN FACES.
