Hi Def is the collective spirit and vision of four people that have come together after participating in a variety of projects over the years. Based in Los Angeles, the quartet has inspired in each other a desire to make music that is a reflection of their many influences and the musical environment from which they have sprung. The "sound" of LA is diverse and far-reaching; it has left its mark on all of the artists and musicians that have lived here. With an inspiring blend of cultures, ideas, values and politics, creative people must find a way to interpret their world and define themselves within it. Hi Def is a product of all that happens here, for good or ill. This band has both a political and musical voice.

Hi Def is comprised of four experienced musicians with ideas and inspiration to burn. The voice of the group is defined by Drapey, a former member of the funk groups "Electric Booty Mob" and "Dig This", winner of the 2002 "Leader of the Pack" battle of the bands in LA. Raised in Compton & the child of a writer, Dre writes with a true sense of integrity, inspiration and vision. It is in his blood. His voice can be smooth and crooning or as brazen and honest as any MC hailing from the west coast.

Drummer and percussionist Just "D" (formerly known as "Bash" D) and Bassist MJC (both former members of the Meg Lee Chin Band) propel the rhythmic structure of the band each with their with their eyes on Hip-Hop, rock and R&B. Just "D", originally from Philadelphia, brings with him a tradition of soul and feel that is apparent in the music this group produces. MJC seeks to expand his roll as bassist and uses his instrument to satisfy his imagination with the use of effects, chords and an unorthodox approach. But to understand fully where this band is coming from, one must seek its melodic center.

Hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah, Guitarist Butter defines the group's sound with his knowledge of jazz, his love of funk, 60's guitar rock and a desire to be an artist above all else. Butter takes an abstract approach finding his role to be the most challenging in this unique group of musicians. His playing provides sonic glue that helps everything else make sense.

Together these players, calling themselves Hi Def, strive to define themselves as artists with a vision that reflects their sonic and political environment. What is created is a blend of styles that come together in a unique and interesting way.

Hi Def is currently playing the LA/Hollywood circuit in clubs such as: Key Club, Hard Rock Cafe(LA, OC & Universal), House of Blues & The Viper Room.
