Album Notes

"...DeLallo keeps the audience leaning forward, listening, attentive. Gaining momentum through the area clubs, Hieroglyph seems destined for serious recognition...."
-Fairfield County Weekly

Energetic, organic alternative rock with a funky twist is what you can expect from this rising force in the music scene. Armed with an acoustic guitar, 27-year-old Laura DeLallo has made her way across the Tri-state area rousing crowds with her steady string play, passionate voice, and volumes of sophisticated yet catchy original tunes. Her honest lyrics weave expertly through accounts of love, the daily grind, and politics, challenging and touching listeners who can quickly relate.

After 3 years of going it alone, Laura ran into bass player Joe Sirico in 2000 on the local beach volleyball courts. They discovered they shared a common passion for every type of music imaginable and became fast friends. The diversity of Laura's songs and the power of her voice easily convinced Joe to play in the new original band she was formulating. After experimenting with a few potential line-ups, Laura rounded up experienced Fairfield County artists John Eurell (lead guitar) and Chris Calabrese (drums, percussion) to form Hieroglyph.

The group has a multitude of influences between them-from Ani Difranco to Led Zepplin to Prince to Genesis-which has helped to create an original and eclectic rock sound. John's heavy jazz influence and Chris's straight-up rock style have taken the band to new creative levels. Jazz, hard rock, funk, and blues now swirl around Laura's folk-rock core generating organic grooves that refuse to let you sit down. Hieroglyph is not to be missed by lovers of all musical genres.

REVIEWS

The most talented woman you never heard of
author: brume
Hieroglyph is fronted by a wonderfully talented singing, songwriting dynamo named Laura Delallo. Her full, rich voice is a pleasure to listen to on this album that fits somewhere between the folk and pop categories. The pop gem For Sanity's Sake alone is well worth the price of admission.
