hope in ghosts is the project of St. Petersburg, FL-based musician Ted Flynn. According to Flynn, "the whole project is sort of loosely based on the idea that in a world where everything is already spoken for, creativity tends to reside in the uncontrolled traces and residues left by otherwise uneventful repetitions."
Flynn has been playing music for quite some time. Having been a part of the Athens / Atlanta indie pop scene at a very early age (Drum and Wire), he moved to Chicago (The Ursulines), where he fit right in among the massive, swirling walls of guitar noise prevalent there in the mid 90's. He played the Metro, and figured he could die happy after that. Instead, he moved to Los Angeles.
While his original intention in moving to Los Angeles was to get a graduate degree in English, he soon dropped out in order to focus on making music. hope in ghosts, e.p. is the first product of this focus. Recorded and mixed over the course of three days at producer David Newton's (Fonda, Timonium, Plastiscene, Aberdeen) Burbank, CA studio, e.p. contains four, mostly instrumental songs that excel in the generation of rich textures and poignant melodies with sparse instrumentation.
A full-length is due out in spring 2007 on Chicago's Actually, Records.

This cd rocks. Plain and simple, to the point, not over produced, rock! The only reason I Didnt give it 5 starts is because its too short...Left me wanting more! Be it an EP, it still seems more like a Single...Overall, I really enjoyed it!

Hope in Ghosts is orchestral. The builds, the repetition, the space is at times eerie. You know that let down feeling you had the first time you were stood up for a date? This cd captures it. If you like Radiohead, Mogwai, Pedro the Lion, Bright Eyes, you'll love this.
