Gene Higgins, Geno, as he is affectionately called is a fast rising singer/songwriter with a strong message to anyone who desires a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. Born in Trinidad and Tobago West Indies, his lyrics reflect his experiences as a Christian where he seeks to show himself a testimony as to the goodness, faithfulness and the great love of God for us all.
Gene has written songs that satisfy most genres of music but he enjoys smooth and light music which when flavored with his Trinidad accent creates a blend he calls "Trintex". Gene thinks that Trintex best suits his unique style, enabling him to present the Lord's message with clarity while maintaining a bounce that promotes an atmosphere for Praise and Worship.
Over the years Gene has ministered in song and the preaching of God's Word both in Trinidad and in Texas where he now resides with his wife Gerene and their daughter Genelle.
Gene is also a full time staff member of Benny Hinn Ministries in Grapevine Texas.
In Trinidad, Gene and his wife Gerene has been for many years connected to Woodbrook Pentecostal Church and he is a graduate of the New Testament Church of God Bible College.
Two(2) of Gene's songs from his current, debut album , "The Message" advanced to the round just before the semi finals in the International Songwriting Competition 2006 which attracted worldwide participation of over 14,000 entries.The songs submitted were "Heaven Is the Place" and "Show Me Lord".
"Heaven Is the Place" was also critiqued by TAXI , the world's leading Independent A&R Company and received a
very encouraging review and evaluation.
A few of his songs have been played on Trinidad Radio by both ISAAC98.1FM "THE PROMISE" and TRINIDAD BROADCASTING COMPANY.
