Album Notes

As a Jamband that plays with purpose and intensity, High Ceiling has a style that can be described as both original and inspiring. Blending Reggae/Funk/Trance/Latin/World influences into their sound, it's hard to place a label on the music. As their growing fanbase can attest to, the good vibes and intense energy are always in abundance at High Ceiling performances. Now the band finds itself in exciting new territory with the release of their debut studio CD Angle Of Repose.
Angle Of Repose was recorded and mixed at Avast studios in Seattle, WA. Wanting to create a studio album that has the energy of a live show, the band chose to track everything live. Playing each song three to five times and then choosing the best take, there was minimal overdubbing and all guitar and bass loops were done live using a boomerang pedal. The result is real music, written and played from the heart. Ink and Water features Chris Poage(The Panda Conspiracy) on Baritone Sax.

High Ceiling: A band of "epic" proportions!
author: Ben"Jammin" - Seattle's Best Live Music
With the release of their freshman CD Angle Of Repose, High Ceiling has taken their mission to a higher level of both mind and geographic expansion. Soon to venture beyond the confines of the Puget Sound basin, they will take their percussion-based fusion of rock, reggae, jazz and world and boldly go where other bands have gone before, but probably enjoy it more. Undoubtedly fueled by exposure to vast fields of psychoactive mushrooms that spring forth from the land in their Mason County home, this album aptly recreates the “live” experience that can be felt at one of their amazing shows without ingesting any drugs whatsoever. Hail thee musicians of the rain and may the gods be with you on your voyage to superstardom!

Angle of Repose
author: Cody
It is rare to hear a band capture a sound that is so predicated on live listening as accurately as High Ceiling has on this recording. When one hears a jam band's CD, oftentimes it feels lacking in comparison to a live performance; Angle of Repose does not have this problem. The hooks of the songs are very catchy and danceable ("Restless Soul," with its great reggae vibe, is an outstanding example of this), and the jams showcase each band member's enormous talent. The recording quality is excellent (especially considering, as I've heard, that the instrumentation was done all in one day). I would recommend this CD to anyone and everyone. I have made all of my friends and family listen to it, and everyone has enjoyed it; these people's musical tastes range from punk and ska to grunge and metal to classic rock and blues. Everyone can find something to like about this album. If you breathe and appreciate any sort of musicianship, pick up this this CD and come out to a live show. You will be blown away. To sum it up, let me put it this way: Angle of Repose has been in my disc changer in my car since I bought it in late August, and I don't suspect it will come out any time soon.
