notes

The Friends & Favorites CD is a project of love by the Highlands & Lowlands. Members of the band have played this music together with other musicians formally and informally over the years and this CD is an attempt to capture and share some of those experiences. The unique blend of sounds and instruments on this CD was inspired by the passion and respect for each other and the mutual love of Celtic and traditional music.

Talented Friends on this album (in no order): Kenny Hall, Carl Johnsen, Kevin Hall, Chris Eacock, Christopher Flanagan, Marta Hall, Bill Lehr, Steve Ono, Terry Barrett, Mike Solakin, Mike Newton, Jemmy Bluestein, Rick Canfield, Andy Brown, Larry Cusick, Susan Cusick.

The Highlands & Lowlands have been playing traditional Celtic, Scottish and American Folk music together in the Fresno California area for 20 years. Starting as a group of friends getting together weekly just to jam, the band has developed to performing at concerts, plays, weddings, and private parties and recording CDs. It is the love of the music and friendship that drives the Highlands & Lowlands and it shows in the music.

You'll hear acoustic mandolin's, guitars, penny whistles, flutes, recorders, the piano, the bowed sultry, the bodhran, and, of courses, vocals in the music performed by the Highlands & Lowlands. A good mix of tempos, vocals and instrumentals is always a goal in all performances.

The Highlands & Lowlands: Dave and Barbara Basden, Linda Dryden, Ann Munson, Leigh Ann Martin, Sue Beevers, Nye Morton, Ron Zastovnik.
