“Sellisternia” is a profound album by a revolutionary artist. High Priestess (Regan) seamlessly blends a number of genres like ethereal, Gothic, trance, futurepop, synthpop, new age, sensual groove, and worldbeat. High Priestess is a one-of-a-kind artist and spiritual conduit. This is one album that won’t leave my CD player for some time. Not only does it span genres, but its themes and general energies change quite nicely. The elements of electronica that “Sellisternia” is rich with makes it a highly unique offering. The beats are transformative and powerful, perfectly complimenting Regan’s luscious vocals. The delivery of the album is serene yet motivating, and I can say without qualm that it’s one of my favourite records. I’m glad that High Priestess is becoming recognized for awesome the musical project it is. It’s clear that Regan and her contributors are devoted to delivering inspirational, magickal, mystical and sensual vibrations to the public ear, and thank Goddess she is! "Sellisternia"... Our journey begins with "Hallowed Ground", a haunting track of electrons and trance mixed delicately by Regan's powerful calling. As if in a hunt, you can almost feel the hot breath of the wolf behind you and envision the torches of the huntsman close behind...when out of the woods Regan leads you into "Opium", an ancient time of healing powers and lovespells as she draws a Middle Eastern picture full of passion and fires burning from deep within.. she uses her beauty through voice to bring you closer into the rested state of complete submission..and uses lyrics such as "gentle waves lap at my consciousness" to tease and titillate the palate and the soul.. From there Regan becomes our spiritual guide, an eagle, guiding our magic carpet as it carries us gently in flight to horizons beyond the sun, beyond the moon, into unmarked musical territories. The eclectic mix of electronica and lyrics that remind me of an ancient incantation in "I Am Your Garden" to "Angel Eyes", a personal favorite ,which brings forth Regan's many musical talents, as we cling to each note while she dances across the ivory. Not only is the score "catchy" but Regan's beautiful voice takes you to a higher plane, as you experience the essence that simply is Regan. From the lullaby of "Angel Eyes" your magic carpet will journey deeper into the mind and the libido of the lustful lover with "Temptress". As we come to a close of our travels, Regan blends "Oblivion 1-1st Movement" and "Oblivion 2-2nd Movement" together with a strength and power of the Goddess she sings of, as her whole being is dipped into a harmonias ocean, the waves build and lurk closer to your shore of meditation. You are then swept up by the current of the instrumental and toss about in her hauntingly delicious symphony of chimes, drums and electronica. Safely you are delivered, as she brings your body back to the Mother Earth below with her sweet chants of Airetaina.
