The thread of Hijack started in 1990, when Andre Calilhanna (drums/vocals) and Jack Gillespie (Guitar) first started collaborating on songs that formed the foundation of Flesh Tuxedo. Flesh was a hybrid of the collective influences of the band members, which were heavily informed by hard rock and progressive bands of the 70s-90s. Flesh disbanded in '96, and in 2000, Gillespie and Calilhanna began writing again in earnest, eventually forming the alt/hard rock band Lowjack. Immediately after the breakup of Lowjack in 2003, the duo set to work on what would become the Planetary Missionary demo, the first recording to bear the Hijack name (it just seemed like the obvious choice). The writing and recording sessions for Illusions started soon after Planetary was completed, and the band has made eight brief live appearances at the fabled DMPalooza concert series.

Treat Yourself...

...with many long listening sessions. You'll need to because the music is layered with beautiful ribbons of raging rock, throbbing guitars, lush vocals, and haunting sounds of unknown origin. I love this album, these songs, these artists.
The vocals on Misery reach inside, grab my soul and, dare I say, no...I dare not.
The guitar riffs make me want to climb the mountain and scream LONG LIVE ROCK; Viva le Hijack!
Now, gimme more!
