Album Notes

Hijack Maria was formed in early 2004, with the combination of Kyle Asplund (guitar/vocals/keys) and John Schuster (bass). After meeting Thane Mitchell (percussion) through mutual friends, the trio went into the studio for a jam session. Here they met Melissa Kiepke (violins/vocals), and decided to give it a shot.

Hijack Maria has been performing shows in the Northwest since their inception, and with the release of their first album, Crooked Smile, are riding a wave of excitement. Recorded in early 2006 at Elliott Bay Recording Company, the album opened a whole new world to the band, who are anxiously awaiting another trip to the studio to record their second album!
