Album Notes

Because of their musicality and unique sound the band has won many fans among those not only in the bluegrass and country world, but also in the rock/pop/and folk world.
“It always makes us feel good when a loud bar can turn into a listening room. I think we just have a unique sound that grabs people’s attention.”
Hilary Hawke is a music lover, vocalist, performer, multi-instrumentalist, and probably most noted for being a young brooklyn banjo player. Completely expressive in her songwriting, she has been forging a path for her music on various instruments for the past 15 years. Upon making her first move to NYC in 2004 she quickly found a love in the banjo and a serious outlet for songwriting within that love.
What stands out in the band are the excellent crafted songs, amazing creative playing from all members of the band, and the interesting interplay between percussive clawhammer banjo playing and sometimes tribal drumming from percussionist Brian Geltner.
Recently the newest album received rave reviews from Banjo Newsletter, and is being considered a finalist for the top 12 DIY albums this year in Performing Songwriter.
As well as touring with her own songwriting, she is banjo player in many successful bands in the country/bluegrass scene. Not your precious singer-songwriter! She now blends the different qualities of music found in old time, bluegrass, folk and even the indie rock world to create a unique sound that has been called “quite captivating”. Not to mention, a band that rocks!
