ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Don't let the fact that this CD only has 7 tracks prevent you from making the VERY WISE DECISION to ORDER IT NOW! Find out why Ray Charles' former drummer had THIS to say about Hilary when he heard "Out of the Wilderness":

"When I first saw [Hilary's] picture I thought 'oh this cutsie blonde who's going to have a whispery voice and sing cutsie little songs. Then when I heard her I couldn't have been more incorrect. Her voice is very strong and powerful. It communicates so much in and of itself. I see artists all the time, some with potential, some without. I just knew Hilary has the proverbial 'IT'."

-Billy Burns, former drummer for Ray Charles

"Out of the Wilderness" is an enhanced EP that takes Hilary Scott's artistry to new heights, showcasing her talents with some of Nashville's finest studio musicians. The CD was produced by Matthew Wilder and recorded in the Wilderness Production studios in Nashville. Executive Producer is Stephen Gardner. Artists include: Jerry Kimbrough, acoustic and electric guitars; Gary Lunn, bass; Steve Brewster, drums; Kenny Vaughan and Brandon Henegar, additional guitars; Matthew Wilder, guitar and keyboard; Hilary Scott, vocals, guitar and keyboard.

In addition to this CDs superb audio tracks, it also contains a delightful enhancement that includes the artist's bio, a photo gallery, and two engaging videos of the artist discussing her music and performing live at See Sound Lounge, Seattle. The videos were produced by Global Griot Productions, Inc., Seattle, WA.

Beyond Hilary's intelligent and insightful lyricism, Hilary's vocal range is captured beautifully on this disc, as well as her stylistic diversity, with elements of rock, folk, pop, country and blues represented in ear-catching form on this fantastic professional recording!

"Out of the Wilderness" was produced on a larger scale than Hilary's previous two albums with the help of independent record label, Belltown Records, based in Seattle, WA, with whom Hilary signed more than a year ago.

A musician since the age of three and a writer since the age of five, Hilary Scott singer songwriter, has combined the two, and the result is destined to rock the music world with a new sound - intelligent, haunting, soulful lyrics combined with unique instrumental music.

Raised with classical training on piano, violin, voice and guitar, this talented singer-songwriter experiments with different sounds, instruments and styles to create unique audio artwork.

Listeners can be gratified with blues, folk, rock, pop, and classical influences in her music, and yet still find they are listening to something completely fresh and difficult to define.

Hilary Scott performed solo for many years in the Northwest, but several years ago moved to Missouri where she formed a seven-piece band called LaidDownEight. Hilary's style flourished as she began working with these musicians whose jam-band past expanded upon the songs she was writing. LaidDownEight, now known as THE HILARY SCOTT BAND, helped her record, "The Floating World," and "Come In, Come IN: LIVE" and continues to perform with her around the Midwest. Hilary and her band have received commercial radio airplay, are generously supported by community and college radio, and have opened for acts such as Little Feat, Jonatha Brook and Beth Orton.

From Belgium to Brazil, DJ's, journalists and music lovers are discovering this new sound and playing a part in spreading Hilary's music to others. The BUZZ that is being created stretches far beyond Missouri.

Hilary Scott's songs are personal, yet appeal to an extremely large audience. There seems to be something here for everyone. Lyrically significant, thoughtfully arranged, and excellently performed.

"I have Hilary's CD on right now....My goodness what a powerful voice she has! Her songs are SO GREAT! I sometimes think Brave New World is my favorite, but I also LOVE People On a Train

-A California fan

"...I had the great pleasure of finally seeing the lovely Hilary Scott and her band in performance at The Elbo Room in Chicago...(it was) an awesome show to see and hear. Grab some of their CDs, tell your local radio stations to play their music, tell your friends about them, buy their CDs to give as presents, and promote the hell outta this band! " (Show review can be read in its entirety on the Yahoo Fan Group website)

-Ray from Texas

"Last Friday I saw the Kansas City debut of a great new band that I think we'll be hearing a lot about for years to come...its the Hilary Scott band out of Columbia, MO. The music is simply great. Very fresh, tight and exciting...they're not trying to sound like anyone else. They certainly rock, but very articulately. Lots of blues and jazz influences, but they truly jam, too...when performing she (Hilary) demands your attention. You simply can't take your eyes off her. Great voice (and easy on the eyes) and a nice guitar/violin player. Check them out online and go see them live if they every come to your area.

-BOB from Kansas City

"As said, she's independent...as they come! She's like a mix of Ani DiFranco (...she does a killer rendition of 'Both Hands'), Sarah MacLachlan, India Arie, Billie Holiday...but break it down and she's just Hilary. She's amazing, the kind of artist that can take a crowded bar into the palm of her hand. Clicking beer glasses and loud, boisterous jackasses, they'll listen to her if she plays..."

-Rebekah from Portland, OR

"It's EXCELLENT! I was diggin it this morning in the car."

-Dave Cohen, WORT 89.9, Madison, WI

"Tasty Stuff!"

Collected Sounds

Great way to introduce yourself to Hilary's music
This is an enhanced CD that includes videos and interviews as well as songs.

I found the interview video particularly charming. It gives us a nice insight into this talented young woman.

"Calls From Springfield" is another highlight esepcially after watching the interview to see what the song is all about.

Plain good stuff
Yes, it's only an EP, but four of the five songs rock my world -- and that's a high total for a full-length album. Scott showcases a wide range of vocal and emotional tenors, handling all of them well. "Brave New World" in particular is my new favorite break-up song.

This is good stuff. Get it. You won't regret it.

Makes a great gift!
I bought a CD for each of my brothers for Christmas. They absolutely loved them! This CD has such universal appeal but remains fresh at the same time. Hilary's voice on this album is beautiful and her lyrics are moving. I hope more fans discover her soon and we start seeing her in more public venues.

The music industry needed Out of the Wilderness - Musical Genius
Out of the Wilderness is pure musical genius. Hilary Scott was once referred to as the, “perfect mix of the innocent and the erotic,” this statement is highlighted throughout the CD. Her voice will touch your soul, her passion will move you. People on a Train is difficult to describe. It has such depth, such brilliance, from the power of her voice, to the meaningful lyrics; and though it might be a touch cliché, there is no better word than “haunting” in describing the overall song. It is nearly impossible to listen to this CD without having emotional reactions. One does not just listen to Hilary, her music will take you on a trip throughout your life and memories and will inspire in every listening. She is simply delightful in the interview (on the enhanced portion of the CD) and can give a new fan a sense of the mesmerizing pull she has on her audience. Her charm, grace, beauty and charisma are displayed well in the interview and the live performance. In addition, her husband Michael’s infectious energy and passion on percussion is captured wonderfully and adds even more depth to the performance. There is no doubt that Hilary Scott will be accepting a Grammy in the near future. Buy this CD and help make that happen and spread the word to all you know. The music industry needs Hilary Scott, Out of the Wilderness is a must have!
