Dave Hill has done it again with his CD "New World."  The songs on the album provide Dave an opportunity to showcase his amazing prowess on the guitar and he does not disappoint. If you like jazz/fusion guitar you will love this album, and if you don't you will still appreciate Dave as a world class player. With all due respect to Chuck Loeb (who I like alot and who has replaced the amazing Larry Carlton in the group Fourplay) Dave would have been a great fit with that supergroup. What a joy listening to Dave Hill's second album. In the smooth jazz world of guitarists repeating melody is one, but technique and interesting jazz harmonies and rhythms along with care for improvisations is a different story. Dave Hill combines both worlds in an outstanding way without losing himself in complex and blazing displays of chops. And although he is always in the lead the way he lets fellow musicians intertwine is a delight. Here also sax, piano, rhodes, organ showcast by some of the finest musicians in the business. Good and versatile as he is is why artists like Scott Wilkie, Gregg Karukas and Theo Bishop invite him to play along with them. Whether he plays the Gibson 335, Les Paul, Strat, Tele or the acoustic Taylor this guy is able to move me. I think Dave Hill has put himself on the musical card and raises the bar a little higher every time he's in and outsite the studio. I'm sure the best is yet to come. A great perspective not only for him but for us listeners as well. Way to go Dave!

Great 2nd effort by this amazing guitarist.  Fantastic musicianship aside, and there is tons of that on this CD, the songwriting is really what makes this CD worth checking out.  Standouts include: Waiting for You, New Day and Do You Know.  Fans of vintage Larry Carlton will really dig the vintage tones on a few of the cuts, Soul Twister which sounds as if it could have been on a Crusaders album. Always a nice treat when great music and great musicianship come together !

Great new CD from an amazing guitar player!
On this record he has assembled an impressive group of top notch players like Jimmy Haslip, Russell Ferrante and Will Kennedy from the Yellowjackets. But all players are outstanding and the compositions are excellent. My personal favorite is the title track!
