Album Notes

Music is her life's passion and work. Heather's love of music began at an early age when she learned to play the piano and sing. She has never stopped learning and surrounding herself with great musicians and teachers.

A Toronto native, Heather moved to New York for a couple of years to further her skills as a full-time singer/songwriter. She worked with producer Steve Addabbo of Shelter Island Sound, NYC. Steve has produced albums for artists such as Suzanne Vega and Shawn Colvin.

Her song, "Just Her Ideal" was selected for the soundtrack "Songs for an old Century" written by Jose Rivera (also the screenwriter of the "Motorcycle Diaries") and distributed by the Velocity Theatre Company in NYC.

She has a piano performance degree from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Waterloo. She is a member of National Academy of Arts and Sciences, SOCAN and the Songwriters Association of Canada.

"Heather's music showcases the enormous complexity and purity of her voice coupled with her honest and often vulnerable lyrics. Her strong songwriting ability captures the complexity and thoughts in our lives. She and her music are truly inspirational." -- Katharyn Marquez Bond, co-founder and executive director Velocity Theatre Company, NYC.

It is not very often these days to find a songwriter who not only has a gift for lyric writing, and sophistocated melodies, but who also posesses such great musicianship. Heather Hill is one such songwriter. Her songs are very well rounded in that respect. Her lyrics are insightful and soothing. She eloquently expresses her positive attitude through her lyrics. Her music is not only intricate but is easy to listen to. In "Second Skin" for example, the chorus is very "catchy" or memorable and you find yourself wanting to hear it again and again. I feel calm when I listen to Heather's music and find the melodies and lyrics running through my head. I am grateful that Heather has chosen to share her gift with us, the listeners. The CD is beautifully performed and produced, and the high calibre of musicianship is evident. So much Talent!

I've heard this artist has been compared to Suzanne Vega and I would have to agree. She has a unique voice that doesn't overpower the messages she conveys...the lyrics are incredible. Poetic. Must read along with the music to "feel" her intense passion. Home, Petrified and Just her Ideal are brilliant.

The songs on this CD will stay with you after you listen. I have been out riding my bike, and Heather's songs run through my head as I am riding. This is a great CD and is worth more than one listen.
