Seth Himmelhoch - Guitar

Seth Himmelhoch is a classical guitarist and teacher based in Teaneck, New Jersey. Mr. Himmelhoch has made solo appearances at such venues as the 92nd St. Y, Alice Tully Hall, Wagner College in Staten Island, St. Paul's Chapel in NYC, and the JCC on the Palisades CPC Concert Series. In addition he has performed around the US at Rhode Island College, Eastern Michigan University, and at guitar workshops in several states. Mr. Himmelhoch has also made appearances on cable television on NJ News 12, LITV and Staten Island Cable TV.

He is also part of Duo Cavatina, a flute and guitar partnership which has performed in numerous concert series throughout the Northeast. They have been featured guests on live radio interview shows on WNYC (New York Public Radio) and WNTI (North Jersey Public Radio) and their Pittsburgh (PA) benefit recital was recorded and broadcast on WQED.

As director of guitar studies at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ, Mr. Himmelhoch has taught guitar to many talented young musicians and has overseen a yearly guitar festival which has presented such artists as Benjamin Verdery, Nicholas Goluses and many more. Mr. Himmelhoch is the founder and director of the Suzuki guitar program at the JCC/Thurnauer School of Music in Tenafly, NJ and he also serves on the Guitar Development Committee of the Suzuki Association of the Americas.

Mr. Himmelhoch is also active as a guitarist and composer in jazz, pop and experimental music groups. His compositions have been presented in concerts by the groups Orchestra of the Sky and the Doansburg Chamber Ensemble. He has been a member of the rock group Ripe since December 2000. Ripe is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on their new album.

Mr. Himmelhoch holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Carlos Barbosa-Lima. His other teachers were Jeffrey Meyerriecks, Rob Winter and Dennis Coleman. He has performed in master classes for Manuel Barrueco, David Leisner, Carlos Barbosa-Lima, Guido Santorsola and Jesus Silva.
