Album Notes

Classified as a Contemporary Christian Rock sound, His Own is not your ordinary band. Rod Appleby, the band's song-writer, lead vocalist and guitar player says, "Our music is unique in that it does not copy any one style of music but offers something for everyone, from Cajun-style blues and driving rock & roll, to smooth ballads and acoustic-driven soft rock. "We have songs that can be appreciated by every age group."

Johnny Came Home is a tribute to American servicemen of all branches of the armed forces, and is based on Rod's personal experience as a veteran of Desert Storm. "We are a ministry, not a business," states Rod. "Our main goal is to present real-life situations and offer hope through the message of Christ.

God birthed this team through the gift of friendship. His Own started their journey through ministry as friends that had a common calling to lead others into worship. They have served together at their local church in Corpus Christi, Texas as the praise band for the past three years. The band believes that God has called them to move out from the four walls of the church and reach those that might not darken the door of a sanctuary, but the church remains their foundation. Their commitment is to their Lord and Savior and to the body of believers where He has commissioned them to serve.

Of course music is a common thread for this group, but time spent in fellowship has knit them together so tightly, that nothing you see on stage is rehearsed or pretentious. They are real people with real circumstances offering a real hope-Jesus Christ, and not because they've heard of Him, but because they know Him personally. This love affair with Jesus has propelled them to get the Word out that Jesus is Lord of all and if you spent much time with these guys, it would not be long before "You Would Know".

His Own consists of Rod Appleby, lead guitar and vocals; DeeDee Sharon, vocals and percussion; David Parks, bass guitar; Mandy Ward, drums and percussion; and Daniel Ward, keyboard and special effects. All the music is original, written and composed by Rod Appleby.
