Album Notes

After finishing his studies at art school in Reykjavik, Iceland, Hjortur became more serious about his musical potential and moved to Copenhagen, Denmark. His self-released debut album, Humanize, came out in the spring of 2000.

On this new album, Pop Songs, Hjortur captures the spirit of British rock at the time which was retreating from some of the Brit-pop's artiness to a back-to-basics sound. Recorded in a matter of days, the album includes mellow songs, romantic songs, happy songs, love songs - pop songs. The inspiration is The Beatles, Hollies, Travis etc.
