suddenly you are in a playground...dandelion seeds drift aimlessly on invisible currents, the same breeze blowing in your hair. as you swing, back and forth, airborne and free, the birds circle above your head in aerobatic precision and you get dizzy counting them...andrea, stephanie, xenia, claire.... so many surfing the skies. then, cassandra walks by. the earth pauses as she moves ; even the gravel ceases to crunch beneath her steps. autumn yellows flutter and lazily swirl around her. even the insects appear in slow motion since the coolness of day restricts speed. tiffany's voice echoes and cassandra turns around with a smile that erases thoughts you just had. so pure. so happy to see her friend. tiffany and her her sister josephine, catch up to cassandra. they link arms and skip their slippered feet through the piles of raked leaves. back, forth, back, forth, the swing creaks, barely audible over the crackling leaves. soon they are out of sight, with only their pre-pubescent giggles remaining in their wake. more children walk by: emily and maria playing tag, isabella and serena discussing horses and sophie, pulling up the rear, mesmerized by the way the leaves spin through the air. a sadness grips her and she runs over, stirring up as many fallen leaves as possible, to make them again pilots... your mind finds freedom in notes and memories and the swing moves back and forth, slowly leaching out the angst from day and replacing it with the preciousness of life.
