Gettin' better all the time
author: Dennis May
I really loved this CD...quite a step up from the first CD and has a great variety of sound and tempo. Frank's lyrics can surprise or soothe, but always leave you wondering just how HIGH the grass is around these boys. I could listen to the title track a thousand times and still want to hear it again. Great stuff.

Wicked and wonderful art-song-folk-poetry
author: Les Moore
HUNTING conjures all of the wicked and wonderful art-song-folk-poetry that seems to be one part Bob Dylan, two parts Roy Rogers, a speckle of Marty Robbins and a liberal portion of all that is Frank Cotolo’s literal influences. You enter a world of words not so common in the universe of nobodies. But then again, Cotolo is not as much of a nobody in the writing department as are his cohorts on the Web. He is and has been a professional writer for decades. And, taking full control of the lyrical atmosphere while letting Larry Michelich have the beat and Kevin Proctor cruise the foundation, Cotolo’s current incarnation is without debate his best.
Listening to this CD you will be affected by the beats and the basses, all perfectly in place with Cotolo’s simple and bone-bare musical constructions on guitar and harp. Cotolo seems bent on keeping the production simple, thus making the drum and bass elements far more outstanding and important elements. Also, sound wise, the CD is spectacular.
This is not an autobiographical group of music. Though we look through the eyes of this artist, we are all the subjects of these songs. It is so blatant that Cotolo is not speaking like other songwriters, that is, he is not asking for a listener’s attention to hear about him. These are songs that he is singing to us, for sure, with warnings, pleas, patience and pride. This is a package that should please all of us, not because it is about Cotolo, Proctor, Michelich, any characters that surface in the songs or the mythical Morgan or the nomadic High Grass Boys. But because it is about each and every one of us who keep hunting.

I really enjoyed the CD! I love the music style and songs except I really don't understand the lyrics for the first song. I would purchase again mainly due to the music.

Made my day
author: Michael Scotto
Although I was a child of the fifties, it was truly the sixties and seventies that defined my taste in music. From Dave Van Ronk to Buck Owens, the music saw me through loves won and loves lost, through the smog I couldn't fight and at times, the happiness I couldn't win. But I survived to live another day and in another time... this is what your CD "Hunting" brought back to me... another time. What can I say, a masterpiece in disguise, from "Hollywood Be Thy name" to "Green Eyed Friend"... everyone a memory for me. A great accomplishment, you made my day.
