notes
Gay. Christian. Music.
No three words could better describe Chris Hoffman's debut cd 'The Road'. All ten tracks are written by Chris and directly inspired by his journey through life as a gay Christian, all the struggles and all the joys.
He writes and sings with honesty about God, love, family, depression, homophobia and much more. Chris has co-produced the tracks with David Barnes, Bil Jenko, R.T. Brown and Tracy Meisky. All arrangements by David Barnes.
Get a copy of the album that has reached #1 on the Pride Christian Music.org chart and the Outvoice.net top 10. With two PCM #1 singles (Hate Is The Worst Sin Of All and The Road), the buzz continues.
Of 'The Road', Pride Christian Music says "(it) reminds me of a beautifully crafted storybook" with "smooth full vocals...surrounded with the wonderful music of David Barnes...Hate Is The Worst Sin Of All and The Road are just the BOMB!" "The end result are songs that can lose you in the sound - and this is a GOOD getting lost!"
Outvoice says, "Hoffman has a rich country crooner-voice that lends itself well to these songs..." and calls 'The Road' "an enjoyable journey into Hoffman's personal space and it's a pleasure that he's chosen to share it with us. Fans of Christian contemporary music and County/Western will get much enjoyment out of this CD. I'd recommend it on the strength of Hate Is The Worst Sin Of All alone, but it has so much more to offer for those willing to tune in."

Strength for the Spiritual Journey
author: Andrew MinkoTHE ROAD has great music and Chris Hoffman's voice is clear and true. The faith expressed in these songs is both timeless and modern. As such, it speaks to the complexities of mature faith that frankly acknowledges doubt and rejoices in assurance. Chris Hoffman is out and open as both a gay man and a Christian, but his spiritual journey speaks to a larger audience. His opening track, "Returning from Exile" starts with the line "Lord, some of your people have turned me away" and then goes on to describe overcoming this rejection and reclaiming the assurance of faith. I wish it wasn't true, but many people have had this experience - both straight and gay. This song offers both comfort and challenge to us "exiles." My favorite song is "Eclipse." While faith can bring great joy, it has been my experience that there are also times of darkness and uncertainty. "Eclipse" offers a powerful message of hope that "the light will return someday." This is a rare and remarkable CD that will enrich and inspire the spiritual journey.
The most uplifting album I've heard all year!
author: Terry MeltonI found this CD truely uplifting and positive! If you're down, listen to this CD and you won't be much longer!! And what a beautiful voice Chris Hoffman has! The CD has a love song on it that could easily be in the top 10 of the secular pop charts. The whole CD challenges us to love others and for those who suffer to not lose hope. I cry tears of joy everytime I listen to it!
Incredible for a debut CD!
author: Barnes DistributionIncredible is the only word that comes to mind when listening to this CD for first time. Most independant artists, when recording a debut CD, skimp a little on the arrangement quality for the sake of cost...not here! The arrangements are Fabulous! All of the tunes in this collection are catchy and meaningful. THE ROAD offers a nice mix of songs, so that the listener doesn't get bored hearing the same style over and over. I never knew that listening to a spiritual CD could be such a wonderful experience! I'm looking forward to hearing the next one!
