Album Notes

Hope Hoffman (fiddle) and Jeff Trippe (guitar and octave mandolin) offer gracefully improvised phrasing and imaginative, lush renditions of jigs, reels, hornpipes and vocals.

Hoffman's fiddling brings a precise and fluid style to instrumental melodies, and a resonance and delicacy to vocal accompaniment, meshing magically with Trippe’s rhythm and melodic lines on guitar and octave mandolin.
Spontaneous, detailed phrasing and subtle musicianship are hallmarks of this duo.

Jeff Trippe has been playing in bluegrass, blues, Celtic and rock bands for about thirty years. He recently recorded an album of original songs and was featured as a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist in the Mutineers' latest CD, "Coal Creek." Trippe teaches guitar, banjo and mandolin at Free Grange Music Studio in Bowdoinham, Maine.

Hope Hoffman has been a full-time professional performing artist in Maine since 2001. She gives performances and workshops, and plays for weddings and events. Her original fiddle tunes were published on a live CD in 2007. Hope also teaches music, and sings and plays with several bands in New England as well as working as a soloist, vocalist and recording artist.

Audio samples, resources and links for fiddle students, sheet music for her original tunes, and a calendar of events are at www.hopehoffman.org.

Hoffman and Trippe's CD showcases their elegant, spontaneous settings of popular Irish tunes (as well as a couple of Hoffman's compositions).
