NEW CHEAPER PRICE!

If you go to the "special gallery section" at CDBaby.com, you can get this for $5. (The way the pricing is done here, I have to ask $7 to get the same amount from CDBaby.com)

2008 is our 6th year since we started this effort with the initial compilation, "Ho Ho Ho Spice" (also available for sale at CDBaby.com). And we would like to sell out. Will you help us? Please buy a copy and tell your family and friends to do he same--THANK YOU!

Our sales pitch:

Holiday Heart is a 2 CD compilation of original Holiday music. It is also a very eclectic release of "Alternative"-ish sounds, spanning from lo-fi to folk to americana to alt. country to pop to power-pop to modern rck to singer/songwriter, and there is even a broadway-musical sounding number.

It is also a HOSPICE awareness and benefit project.

Each disc was created to tell an emotional story. One highlights the ebb an flow of romance and the holidays. The other disc tracks the span of emotions that the holidays evoke: from anticipatory joy to the growing frustration of "enough is enough" to hoping the true sentiment of the season will last all year.

The mix of artists is just as diverse: from Rick Derringer to Ron Sexsmith to The Dismemberment Plan to local New Jersey favorites, Jon Caspi, Boxcar Nancy and the Super Karaoke Fun Time Band.

All proceeds after cost goes to Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, a leading, nonprofit hospice in New Jersey, which has been around since the begining of the hospice movement. And is in fact credited as being the first Medicare aproved hospice of the state.

Volunteer Records is only in exsistance to help raise awareness of hospice and to raise money for Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center through the release of alternative holiday music. In fact, the label is run by Spiro Ballas, who is the Volunteer Coordinator for Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center.

A great collection of holiday songs for a very good cause - looking forward to a Volume 3

  • Sigh, it's so hard to get a compilation right -- BUT THEY HAVE

The original set (Ho Ho Ho Spice) is one of my top tens (and I have over 700 holiday CDs). This will be up there too. Most are original holiday themed songs, and the very, very most of them are amazingly tasty. This will go fast (they are only pressing 4000). I am glad I got mine!

  • A different take on the holidays

As a certified Yulehead I am constantly seeking new and unique Christmas tunes for the collection. This CD fits the bill. If you are tired of hearing the same dozen Christmas chestnuts reworked year after year you can select ANY track on this generous collection and be pleasantly surprised. There are several stand outs and really not a chunk of coal in the bunch. I was hesitant to purchase when I saw that the theme of the CD was Holiday Hearts-I didn't want 40 tracks of easy listening smooth pop and I was not disappointed. There are upbeat tunes and reflective ones in the mix. I plan on lifting several to populate my annual Christmas Mix 2005 CD. The fact that a portion of the purchase price is donated to charity is the ribbon on the package. If you're looking for something different and tasty this year you should give this collection a try. If not, Diana Krall just released her "take" on your favorite Christmas war-horses.
