Album Notes

HO HUM- Sanduleak

"The album Foo Fighters tried to make.... What are the majors thinking...? Sanduleak is a sonic punch in the nose to everything that's wrong with the alternative music industry."
-Bill Ellis, Commercial Appeal [Memphis], 10/4/97

"Remarkably strong.., long on well written tunes."
-Scott A. Johnson, Northwest Arkansas Times, 11/27/98

"One of the best Memphis-area modern rock rock records of 1997-98.]"
-Memphis Flyer, 9/24/98 (nomination, Best Modern Rock category, Memphis Area Music Awards)

"Smart, tuneful punky pop that is a worthy follow-up to last year's wonderful Local."
-Memphis Flyer, 10/2/97

"A beaut. One fabulous tune after another, full of simple, perfect hooks and energetic beats. [B]ristling with pop cleverness and garage-rock sloppiness. [S]pit-polished and crafted with more skill than any top 40 hit hiding behind slick production. 'Funny' ... belongs in ferociously heavy rotation at any radio station hip enough to give it a listen."
-Joey Butler, Nashville's Flipside, 10/1/97

"Guaranteed to blow [the critics'] cynical minds right out of the galaxy...."
-Laura Johnson, Little Rock Free Press, 9/17/97

"Sanduleak is loose, infectious work that shows a basic rock band in top form. Lenny Bryan is a persistent talent.... [S]ongs [with] razor sharp turns that work."
-Werner Trieschmann, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, 9/12/97

"Really, really good stuff.... An irrepressible, joyous pop sensibility.... Lenny Bryan [is] a real pop-rock genius."
-Kelley Bass, Arkansas Times, 8/1/97

Yes, it is as good as they say it is..

This is ho-hum at their finest, at least in my opinion. Between the near-legendary (at least in the Little Rock scene) line up of the Bryan brothers, Kevin Kerby and Colin Brooks, and the near-perfect pop-rock jams, this album sounds as fresh, as good, and as wonderful as it did the day it came out nearly 11 years ago.
