The Holdens was recorded and produced by Dave to honor a three-generation musical legacy.
All songs were written by members of the Holden family. Dave asked the family to give him any of their original songs and he would rearrange, produce and sing his rendition of their songs as his tribute to the family.
The featured song, "Seattle On The Puget Sound" was written originally by Dave's father, Oscar, in the 1930s. Oscar, a professional musician, is called "The Patriarch of Early Seattle Jazz" and his picture is on the cover of the book entitled, The Roots Of Jazz In Seattle, Jackson Street After Hours.
Dave, born and raised in Seattle, has updated the song as a tribute to his hometown. (DAVE'S LATEST VERSION OF THIS SONG IS AVAILABLE BY CONTACTING DAVE DIRECTLY AT 253-520-7966 OR EMAIL AT daveholden@foxinternet.com.)
Other songs on the album were written by his brother, Ron, his sons, David Jr. and Eric and his daughter, Darrelle.
Dave will entice you with his diversity in music and singing style. His history begins with singing and playing jazz on his Hammond B3 organ (styled after organist Jimmy Smith) to singing and playing R&B of the 50, 60s and 70s on his synthesizers and keyboards to ballad singing of a "today" Nat King Cole on grand piano. Enjoy!
