Damon Desmond Dixon aka Holla Da Scholar is a rapper, singer/songwriter, and producer who was born on March 1 in Far Rockaway Queens, NY, in the year 1979. He is the male of a twin set born unto parents who raised their three sons and one daughter with nothing but tough love, although that may be a major understatement.
Years of abuse, homelessness, and hardships turned into years' worth of rage, leaving Holla to feel he must fight out of the hood. Among his spare dreams was one of aiding the world through his music. And so began the elemental mix of creativity beginning with his original ego of the Lyric Specialist, evolving into the alter-ego of Pistols Horizontale, which ultimately reared one primed Holla Da Scholar.
Throughout the years, Holla had pimped his style while watching his oldest brother Robert Dixon aka Killa Traum fashion his own business currently under the independent label Masta Mix Records. Aside from Holla's appearances on Traum's release of his 'Natural Born Killas Volume One' CD featuring well-known artists such as Cormega, Killa Sha, Half-A-Mil, and Screwball, which can be found in all states via franchise stores and Amazon.com, such dealings between the brothers turned into animosity due to sibling rivalry, if you will, within the music and its industry means. Brotherly love will never fade - however, any further traces of a business relationship remain unseen and unheard.
After previously appearing on underground albums like 'Heavy Arsenal' and having showcased at venues like Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and Church Hill Bar in Keystone, PA, while getting airplay at a few local college and university stations, including Wilkes University 90.7 FM and King's College 88.5 FM, today, Holla awaits his time of reign as the industry's next hip-hop king through his connections such as Dire Knight, master engineer/owner of Plymouth Rocks Studio, Plymouth, PA, and Al Gomes and A. Michelle of Big Noise, Providence, RI. Holla Da Scholar has recently produced for certain clientele of the Plymouth Rocks Studio and looks forward to the future - his and that of his music.

CD Review
'Involuntary Hiatus' is the current release from Holla Da Scholar, the next king candidate for the hip-hop realm. His gutsy, raw, and addictive lyrics spit on the mic are well worth the wait. His sound is reminiscent of influential MCs such as Nas, Mobb Deep, Wu Tang, Biggie, Tupac, RUN-DMC, KRS-ONE, LL Cool J, and Rakim. This EP is a sheer representative of trials and tribulations gone on during Holla's years of involuntary hiatus in his very own musical career.
As a youngster visting his grandmother with family in Hollis Queens, NYC, Holla's uncle bragged about being close friends with RUN-DMC. Until he saw it with his very eyes in a movie called 'Tougher Than Leather,' Holla hadn't believed that his uncle was telling the truth. Traum, the eldest brother of Holla's siblings, who also carried a goal of excelling in the music industry, kept close ties with his uncle's connections. Because of this, Traum's label, Masta Mix Records, was to have merged with Jam Master Jay's own future label days before Jay was murdered. It was because of this that Holla's dreams were shattered. Hoping for his brother's success after the tragedy was a losing battle for Da Scholar in that his music sent to Traum never made it out for reasons unknown.
Now is Holla Da Scholar's chance to give the world his life, his love, and his memories for all to share through his music. From ultimately future platinum-selling hits like 'Father Forgive Me,' in which Holla begs for his own forgiveness, to 'We Will Miss You,' which tells of lives lost of loved ones, to tracks like 'Can't Stop Luvin' You,' where Da Scholar uses his softer, sexier approach, the fans are sure to love this album across the board.
