Album Notes

“SEASCAPES” is mainly inspired by the sea, by the essence of being an islander and the magical meeting of the Greek and Celtic cultures.
There are 9 tracks on this CD, all played and sung by Phil. (Celtic harp, voice and violin).
Traditional Scottish pieces lie harmoniously side by side with Phil’s original compositions and a cover of the famous Greek song, “Itane mia fora”.
Of the three instrumental pieces, “Vassiliki Seascapes” was inspired by the beauty of the sea.
It is a tone poem, representing the stillness and calm of the early morning, the arrival of the wind in the afternoon and the cathedral-like sense of peace of the evening as the sun slips behind the hill.
" I feel when I play and sing that the harp and voice become as one. They flow together each embracing and respecting the other. I am seriously interested in fluidity of musical thought , single harmonious moments and the importance of letting music breathe." Phil Holland
A Celtic harpist, singer and songwriter, Phil is a classically trained musician with Celtic roots. Her music contains many influences from classical to traditional including jazz and minimalist inspired sounds.
