ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Since I was a kid, I was always so moved by singers that could sing with real soul. I don’t mean soul the genre, or any particular ethnic affiliation. What I mean is singers that stirred something within my own heart and my own soul just by hearing them. It was always something in the depth of their voices..a certain unique color in their sound...bold, honest, pure, clear, husky, feverish. And then, something beyond just their tone color or surface layer of sound always spoke to me..an underlying sense that went deeper, that connected me to them like an open portal to their soul. It was a folk tune, rock, a classical aria, gospel, jazz, bluegrass, R&B, musical theater, contemporary Christian, country, pop. It didn’t matter the genre, what mattered was that these artists put themselves on the line, like a picketer on a street corner, only to be heard and taken seriously for what was in their hearts that needed to be expressed. I felt such a connection to these soul-singers that passed through my ears. They left an everlasting imprint on my heart. I found myself spellbound, wanting to imitate them, hoping I could someday know what it was like to use my own voice in the most authentic way possible, to share who I am and make my own imprint, no matter how big or small. My purpose is just to sing what’s inside of me. It has taken a lot of living to arrive at the right time to present my debut CD, but only now do I know what I have to say, why I sing and why it matters. I hope you enjoy listening……..Holly
