Album Notes

Hollywood Assassyn came to life in December of 2006, after old time friends and band mates Jay and Troy decided to angle their passion in a different direction and see what would happen if they created a brand new band.
Having heard of the project from a friend, Syl called up Troy to see about setting something up.
The song "Perspective", recorded on the 2008 E.P. "The sick in me" is what came out of their first meeting. The song came to life even before the boys exchanged a full sentence!

A few people came and went as second guitar but it wasn't until Ian entered the picture the following September that the band really came to life and started showing attitude.

The first live performance took place 3 weeks after Ian joined the group, at one of Bodog’s battle of the bands, where they competed, and won twice in row, first place for the Northern Alberta region, ahead of 47 other competitors.

Since then, they have played alongside such names as Danko Jones, Art of Dying and Powerman 5000, as well as headlining a few events and their music has been featured on several websites and they are rapidly gaining recognition through the cyberwaves.

Prior to this band, Jay and Troy were members of an original act which released 2 cd and gained local admiration, Ian was leading his own band and a few acoustic projects and Syl was touring western Canada playing Steve Harris in an Iron Maiden tribute band. Together, they offer more than 60 years experience in the music business, hundreds of hour of live performance and countless days locked in a studio.

The name Hollywood Assassyn was chosen to depict the absurdities covered by today’s trend and entertainment world. “The lack of talent being overshadowed by extravagances and neurotic behaviors seems a bit phony and irritating to us. We’re more the “what-you-see-is-what-you-get type” than a bunch of pretty boys posing for the ladies”.
