Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area I always enjoyed-and still do-playing in bands with bass, drums, piano, horns, vocals and even big bands, but I also spent a lot of time practicing and performing solo guitar, not really knowing that this would have a huge impact on my musical future.
There is an immense pleasure and yet a never ending challenge in creating a solo guitar arrangement of a song so that it may contain as many elements as is heard in a full band or orchestra, while still having the music flow freely.
This is my latest work and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoy playing it...just thinkin' out loud.

In Mark's music you encounter a lot of classical and
jazz elements as on tracks as “Jack & Helen”, “In a Different
Light” and the funky “Champ Change”. The music has a lot of
staccato elements in repeating patterns during luxurious sound
escapades. “Dark Memories” is one of the most challenging
compositions with a wide palette of musical varieties and
techniques and as well musical top-notch skills.

An Expression Of Various Styles.
San Francisco based solo guitarist Mark Holzinger submitted his eight song instrumental CD, Just Thinkin' Out Loud, an expression of the various styles he has developed over the decades as a professional musician. Free-flowing, melodic, intricate, expertly performed and intricately arranged, Holzinger has managed to deliver an engaging collection of tunes sure to hold the interest of even the most jaded of fans of instrumental acoustic music. All the instrumentals are originals, except for a well chosen cover of Lennon/McCartney's "In My Life" and the standard, "All The Things You Are". Holzinger's originals are irresistible melodic gems which offer compelling moments of improvisation and embellishment. Well done!
