Album Notes

Hombre Jones is a collective of east coast roots musicians featuring the songs of Michael Meehan, a songwriter, bass player and vocalist. Best known as a co founder of the Last Hombres, whose Koch Records release Redemption was co produced by Levon Helm, Meehan later joined the band Fourteen Feet (currently the Welldiggers) just as they released their Eric Ambel produced album Stole Away, a country rock gem that topped the Miles of Music sales charts in the summer of 2008. Meehan also co- wrote songs on the recording Raised by Wolves by the Low Rollers.

Inspired by wordsmiths and seekers (Leonard Cohen, Gene Clark, Ray Wylie Hubbard) mixed with a strong dose of alternative country attitude (Whiskeytown, Son Volt, Drag the River) this song cycle was recorded live at Parradiddle Studio in Huntington, NY

The album has been featured on several Americana Podcasts, including Freight Train Boogie, Americana Roots and Hollow Body Radio Hour, as well as the Down Home Country and Sunday Street shows on WUSB.

Past Reviews

“Rollicking country rock, first rate musicianship, interesting songwriting and overall genuine feeling”
The Boston Patriot Ledger

Meehan in particular seems to have smartly studied Warren Zevon for both his shadowy viewpoint and vocal edge. Redemption provides a friendly reminder that country roots honor no state lines. --Jerry McCulley
