Album Notes

Mom's Home Cookin' delights in uncovering the treasure of an old song long forgotten. In 2001, friends Monica and Dale Robin formed Mom's Home Cookin' to perform the music they both love so well. Carolyn joined the group in 2003 and the result is even more delicious goodies from their musical kitchen. All three women have a long history of individual experience as performers, and have entertained audiences of all ages and interests in a variety of venues. As Mom's Home Cookin', their repertoire includes hundreds of songs, from old time bluegrass to folk songs of the 1960's; from classic country gems to Victorian parlor songs; from a country blues tune from the 1920's to contemporary treasures by little-known songwriters.

Performing on guitars, banjos, fiddle, autoharp and Appalachian dulcimer, as well a unique array of percussive gadgets, their eclectic style and exceptional vocal blend will warm the hearts of any audience. Their informal, humorous and personal style is down home and uplifting. The music of Mom's Home Cookin' is comfort food for the ears and the soul.

Monica Grabin Guitar, Banjo, Autoharp, Thumb Piano, Vocals: Monica's performing career spans almost forty years, from the folk revival of the 1960's to presenting programs which teach history through music throughout New England. She is at home in diverse styles of music, ranging from rock & roll to Gilbert & Sullivan, and most things in between. The music which has always held her heart, though, is traditional and old-time American folk music. With clear, strong voice and an intriguing collection of instruments which she plays with skill, a charming wit and an uncanny knowledge of American music, Monica's performances are inviting and engaging for audiences of all ages.
.

Dale Robin Lockman, Guitar, Banjo, Appalachian Dulcimer, Vocals: Dale Robin once took a job in a state in which she had never set foot, and knew not a soul (North Carolina), just to be closer to the music she loves. A longtime presenter and promoter of folk music concerts, Dale Robin has performed solo and in various groups and duos for almost thirty years. Always on the lookout for a good song to "borrow", Dale Robin's repertoire includes not only traditional songs, but also many contemporary ones, - a good number of these written by friends and acquaintances. Her easy rapport with audiences makes her performances a delight.

Carolyn Mix, Fiddle, Vocals: Carolyn is an eclectic fiddler, and enjoys playing old time, Celtic, classical and French Canadian music. She hails from the hills and gorges of Ithaca, but has lived in Maine, teaching and playing violin and fiddle music for over 4 years. She has performed in a wide range of venues, including professional music theater, summer concert series and much more. In addition to her stellar fiddling, Carolyn is a vocalist with a sweet, crystal voice that lends itself beautifully to solo and harmony singing.
