Album Notes

Reluctant Soul Music.

Homesick Orchestra was born at four in the morning in the back of the Soul Coughing tour bus, the result of bassist Sebastian Steinberg's chronic insomnia coupled with a pygmy acoustic guitar. After that band's demise, Sebastian began touring with Beth Orton, Neil Finn, Yerba Buena and others, recording these songs whenever and where ever he could, from a fancy-pants studio in Brooklyn to a semi-flooded basement in Los Angeles.

Homesick Orchestra is Sebastian Steinberg and whoever feels like it. Some of the people who felt like it for this record are Mark De Gli Antoni, Lisa Germano, Yuval Gabay, Fred Eltringham, Jennifer Turner, Anti-Pop Consortium's mighty High Priest AKA HPrizm, Joey Waronker, Chris Brown, Tracy Bonham, Christian Castagno and Danny Blume.
