Formed in early 2000, Honchie is Frank Gifford (vocals, bass), Bob Saggett (drums), Dick Cheney (keys, vocals), Jeffrey Skilling (guitar, vocals) and Sherman Hemsley (DJ).
Combining off-the-wall wit with solid musicianship, the band has been compared to Ween, Tenacious D, and Frank Zappa. Whilst their live show - complete with shtick, spontaneity, and mayhem - is sometimes closer to an Andy Kaufman spectacle than a rock concert.
In their short time together, Honchie has built an impressive fan base in Dallas. Playing showcase gigs, including Van's Warped Tour, North By Northeast, off-SXSW, and countless regional gigs.
Backed by the 2003 release of their 16-track debut album, Deathfists of Rage, the band has garnered both local and national media attention. Including segments on the CBS KTVT Morning Show, HDNet's True Music, The Sheryl Underwood Show, and Much Music in Canada.
As for radio, Deathfists has surfaced on stations throughout the southwest and nationwide on XM Radio, as well as the nationally syndicated radio program, hardDrive.
And here's the really cool part: They've done it all without the benefit of a label.

Honchie Huh?

I work at a radio station in Atlanta and the CD was on the break room table. We're encouraged to listen and comment to help the programming staff. I thought the CD (radio edit demo) was good enough to try and find it on Napster & I tunes - but NOT - Honchie is not mainstream just yet. So, because I really wanted the full version of MoFo to share with a buddy - I broke down and bought the CD. The rest of the CD shows a lot of promise - but you guys need better management/PR. Without iTunes or Napster or Yahoo music helping with the distribution, this is going nowhere fast. Then again - it really depends on what you want out of this... could be you're perfectly happy with what you've got now. Like I said - you have promise.... good luck.

Sombody posted a YouTube link to Monkey/Midget on a message board I frequent. I LOVED IT. Bought the CD and LOVE the rest of it. I'm 56 and not their typical audience. Reminds me so much of early Zappa. Outstanding, tight music and off the freakin' wall lyrics. Thanks CD Baby!!
