Honeyroot is a collaboration between electronia pioneers Glenn Gregory and Keith Lowndes.
Glenn was (and still is) frontman with Heaven 17. He has worked with many of the greats including Tina Turner, Grace Jones, Propaganda, BEF, Terence Trent D'Arby, Ultravox, Midge Ure, Carole Kenyan, ABC, Ryoichi Yuki, John Lydon and Rhythm Masters.
Keith played live with ABC and spent many years DJing, coming out of the House, Post Club era. He has been associated with many well known artists including Neneh Cherry, John McGeogh, Magazine, PIL, Souxie and the Banshees, Rodney P (London Posse/Roots Manoeuvre).
Glenn and Keith met on a project a few years ago and have been working together ever since, writing songs and producing albums for any number of well known artists. They recently moved into the field of film and TV scoring where together they have been nominated for a number of Royal Television Society awards. They also wrote the score for "Sold" which one a BAFTA for Best Short Film. The director of "Sold" also directs Honeyroot's music videos.
Honeyroot was born because Glenn and Keith wanted to do something that combined all the different projects they had been working on. They had just had a hit in Italy and Germany with a track called "Music Don't Stop" by Goldpeople and they had so many half-realised ideas but needed a vehicle to get them finished, so without giving themselves any restrictions they took ideas from one area into a different background letting the tracks evolve into something more 3D and evocative, soulful and nostalgic. The result is Sound Echo Location.
Released to great critical acclaim:
"Beguiling, contemporary & frequently sublime...as symphonic
as Massive Attack" - Q MAGAZINE
"Soulful electronica meets blissful beats...a chilled blend of Air with a contemporary twist" - FUTURE MUSIC
"Perfectly conceived and constructed...some obvious reference points to Portishead & Massive Attack" - ITM
"Atmospheric, beautifully crafted" - DJ MAGAZINE

music to just listen to

Having heard only one track from this album before i took the bold step of buying it. Something i have done before and regretted. Not this time. The only track i had heard before was 'Sweet as Honey' and i thought if the rest are this good then it'll be OK. This album contains 10 absolutely outstanding tracks. Each one beautifully crafted and layered with strings, acoustic guitars, great trip-hop drum loops and quality vocals to take you on a sublime chilled out journey. Forget 'Air' and 'Zero 7'. This is the business. Whether you're lying on a beach, in the garden or in the bath, take an hour to enjoy 'Sound Echo Location'. It's a long way from Heaven 17 or ABC (Glenn Gregory and Keith Lowndes are the main people behind the project) but a great step forward and right up to date.
Forget yourself, take some time out and immerse yourself into the empyreal world of 'Honeyroot'.

Fantastic

I honestly didn't think those heaven 17 boys had it in them!! A beautiful electronica/ambient/chill out album which is surely going to become a cult classic.
sorely underated i guess because of its difficult to market sound. Even the eco-friendly packaging is great - what more can i say?
a hugely ambitious and successful project! and a very welcome suprise to a lot of the rubbish in the charts at the moment.
Sultry, sexy and perfect to unwind to - an awesome achievement!

I purchased my copy from word of mouth since I honestly don't know who these guys are. The reviews were dead on. This is a great cd to just relax to, and for other musicians (myself included) ideas come from listening to this cd.
Grab this cd, give yourself an hour, and enjoy!
