Album Notes

Remember a time when hard rock ruled the radio and MTV? It wasn't that long ago, though finding someone to admit that they listened to (and liked) Ratt, Motley Crue, Skid Row, and Poison these days is like finding someone to admit they liked disco. You don't often read interviews with bands that admit that these hard rock bands influenced them; it's not a chic thing to do. The Honey's say fuck that. With no shame whatsoever, The Honey's are proud to admit that the late '80s, early '90s hair metal bands are a huge influence on their sound.

In early 2001, the members of The Honey's got together to record music that they liked rather than playing in bands that performed whatever style of music was popular at the moment. The original goal of the band, which stands true today, was to create loud rock and roll with power chords (ala AC/DC), glam rock hooks (ala Skid Row) and sexy-yet-tough vocals (ala Pat Benatar). That goal was accomplished and committed to CD in the form of 2001's Shoot From the Hip, which found limited release through a Columbus indie rock label called Derailleur Records. That release earned words of praise from local media such as The Columbus Dispatch, The Other Paper, Alive, and Swizzle-Stick.com.

If you are looking for a band that combines hair metal's hooks and 70's female vocals(ala Heart or Pat Benatar) than look no further. Hot guitar playing and songs(Yep! Real songs, not what passes for it these days!!!) so good you won't believe. Buy or die!!!

Definitely NOT A CD You Want To Miss
author: CincinnatiSarah
I got this CD for Christmas because my fiance knows how much I like The Donnas and he thought this was similair. Well, it turns out that I absolutely love this CD! I haven't stopped listening to it since I got it and everyone who hears it, wants to know who it is. I think the music is great and the lead vocals are amazing. She has a voice that can be compared to greats such as Lita Ford and Courtney Love, only I think she's even better. I wish The Honeys the best and I don't think it'll be long before they break out onto the radio and everywhere. You should definitely buy this CD. You'll regret it later if you don't.

Retro-freshness. Yummy.

I saw the Honey's open for Local H in Columbus and thought they were really good. I bought a CD from them after the show and have been listening to it non-stop ever since. They kind of sound like an old hair metal band but then again they also kind of sound like the Donnas. The live show was really good, the singer has got tons of charisma.
