In its young career, Honor By August has already shared an arena stage with Bon Jovi, had its music broadcast to millions and won the Grand Prize in Billboard’s World Song Contest.
“Now widely considered one of the most promising new talents on the East Coast,” (Washington Post) Honor By August makes music characterized by "distinctive, inviting vocals and anthemic, reverb-drenched guitars" (MetroMusicScene.com). It is built on “award-winning songwriting, strong vocals, catchy melodies, and dynamic live performance” (Jenni Chase, Washington’s Z104/OnTap Magazine).
Their newest release, “Found,” finds the band in musical territory somewhere between U2, Snow Patrol, Kings of Leon and Bruce Springsteen -- a melodic and accessible blend of mainstream rock hooks and deep lyrical observations on life, love, loss and hope.
A fast-growing reputation has helped provide some important opportunities for the band. Honor By August has already been able to share stages as large as arenas with artists including Bon Jovi, Third Eye Blind, Vertical Horizon, Peter Frampton, Hootie & the Blowfish, Edwin McCain, Hanson, State Radio and many others.
While drawing comparisons to some of these bands and developing a sound of their own, Honor By August won the grand prize in the Billboard World Song Contest, as well as the XM Radio / Bon Jovi “Have a Nice Gig” Contest. Their music has been broadcast to millions on ESPN and they have gotten to work with Grammy-winning producers, mixers, and engineers including Jack Joseph Puig (U2, Snow Patrol), Paul David Hager (Goo Goo Dolls), Jeff Juliano (John Mayer), Toby Wright (Third Eye Blind) and Ted Comerford (Zox).
Their sophomore release “Found” continues to fuel the buzz as it builds on the foundation of the first album, further honing the band’s songwriting and developing their knack for portraying a heartfelt connection through their music.

Going to me it big time!!!
author: John Cooper-Martin
"Found" could be a number one hit, in my opinion. When I heard it the first time, I said to myself, "Wow! That's a great song." Usually I have to hear, even great songs 2 or 3 times before I like them. But "Found" was different with me. I think it could be a chart-topper, with the right exposure. “Found” alone is more than worth the price of the whole album. And I think the "Found" Video would be great on MTV. It's awesome, too. But "Found" is not the only song, by any means, Honor By August has, which is great. There are a lot of qualities that make their music fantastic: you can identify with the emotions in the lyrics -- the lyrics engage you; the vocals are unique -- not run-of-the-mill, like you so often hear today; and the music and the musicians are fantastic. For example, listen to the "silly" lead guitar, in some of their songs, although it doesn't get into heavy metal, though -- it's just great! The bass guitarist and the drummer are really in sync with each other. The bass guitarist has a "driving" force, when needed, and is all over the neck of the guitar, other times, to give a great mixed, non-canned bass sound. Some of the musicians also play 2 instruments, including keyboard. This four-man group really does it for me. I think you’ll probably feel the same way, if you buy this album. I think Honor By August will be big time. Then, more people will be able to hear and see this fantastic band, have a great time, great fun, and also be emotionally moved by them, too. To me, that’s what makes a great band, and Honor By August is.
