Fans and followers of Rockapella, N-Sync and George Clinton will want to stop, drop and roll upon hearing this fiery, flaming, back draft of bombastic mens' pop a capella. This is the type that will send your jaw to the linoleum with record-breaking velocity as you gawk at the huge sound entirely done by voice, percussion included. I purchased Original Spin because of Hookslide's cover of Dream On, but from the very first POP of It's You...I was HOOKED! Dream On is awesome, just as I expected, but I must admit, it's not even my favorite song on the CD. Don't Let Me Go rocks with excellent vocal guitars, great backbeat and jammin' lyrics. What Sin is bluesy and soulful with everything building up to an almost angry ending. My Hidden Wish contains, in my opinion, the most beautiful line..."Softly she glides on rippled cool". Overreacting is a typical guy song. Yeah, baby I know I was wrong, but you're overreacting. Funny tune and yes, it also rocks. It's almost unbelievable what Hookslide did with Dream On. I expected it to be a nice song, but I didn't expect it to translate so well a cappella. My least favorite song? Don't You Forget About Me. The guys did a great job on it, but it's just not my style, but still..worth a listen. You'll hear tons of great bass lines and mouth drumming throughout all the songs, and the harmonies blend beautifully without being overly "sweet". I have been afraid to purchase most vocal band CDs simply because I was afraid it'd be a waste of money. This CD was definitely worth the risk. I think my friend (not a vocal band fan) stated it best..."So okay, THIS group uses instruments, right?" Wrong. All done with voices. If you're a vocal band fan (or not), Buy it!
