In 1999 a producer, a computer programmer, an engineer and an IT guru came together with a vision of creating a fun, high energy, high quality all vocal group that could entertain the masses. Paul, Mayank, George and Jon met in November of 1999 and within a few months realized that this project was an amazing outlet for expression and release. After many failed name attempts such as "Comfy Monkey" and "Thump Truck" the group settled on the name "Hookslide" and began its quest for Bay Area fame and fortune.
Hookslide began with a few small shows, but quickly moved on to bigger venues such as national anthem appearances for the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland A's. They were seen on Bay Area TV within the first 6 months of their existence and played their first paid show to a packed wedding.
Starting with a run down rehearsal space and a pieced together sound system, the group put together a cover set, but quickly moved into original writing. As the performances came and the funds were made available, the group added a high end sound system and a wonderful rehearsal space to their team. The CD, Original Spin, soon followed in 2002 and was released with much acclaim. Their cover of Aerosmith's Dream On won a national award for Best Cover Song, helping the album to sell thousands of copies since its summer release.
Original Spin opened a number of doors for Hookslide including trips to Alaska, Boston, major U.S. tours and opening slots for groups like Kool and the Gang, Tower of Power, Rockapella and the Village People.
Hookslide has been able to maintain an amazing balance within their personal, performance and professional lives. That producer, programmer, engineer and IT guru have been promoted many times over in the last eight years, but have been able to continue to invest time in the arts and their passion for singing. In 2006, Hookslide released their 2nd CD entitled "Bump It Up," travelled to Nashville, Washington D.C. and performed for thousands of kids in featured appearances in schools and the America Sings festivals nationwide.
As the trend continues, you can expect international touring and much more fun, high energy, high quality all vocal music from Hookslide.

A Cappella ... NO WAY!!

I swear this album sounds like they used instruments! The vocals are OUTSTANDING!
The bass enriches their sound - without him they would still be outstanding - with him they are superb!
Their sound surrounds you like you are standing in the exact center of their recording space.
Just an amazing CD.
It's difficult for me to write an "objective" review because their song selection on this CD is everything I love in the original versions. "Long Train Running" is one of my favorite songs, and Hookslide's version is no exception! You guys have definitely done The Doobie Brothers proud!
I have both Hookslide CD's ... can't wait for another!
